Making up for last week

So you guys?  It's amazing how much stuff you can fit in an 8x8 space.  I have thought my booth was too full to really add much several times now, but every time I try, I find I was mistaken.  This week I added a bunch more clothing and accessories for my 20% off sale, and a ton of other stuff too.  The booth is crammed almost full enough for the big flea market day on May 19th!

Hopefully a bunch of stuff will sell this week and I'll have to add even more next week to be ready for it.  I'm ready for May to be my biggest month ever (I totally just typed 'biggest moth ever', which is not at all what I want in my antique mall booth full of vintage clothing - eek!).  Of course, my biggest month ever in terms of profit would be easy to achieve.  All I'd have to do is actually make a profit of more than ten bucks, but still!  May is going to pay, right?  I mean, cause it rhymes and stuff?  Right?  Anyway, here are some phone-photos of some of the new stuff that went into the booth.  I kind of forgot to take pics of most of the newest clothing, but I promise, it's there, along with:

Small old red/white enamel double-boiler, set of 2 strawberry print enamel nesting bowls, and a large Dansk Kobenstyle paella pan.
I wish I knew who it was that bought the small blue Kobenstyle pot from me a month or so ago, because I subsequently found the above huge matching Jens Quistgaard paella pan they might like to go with it.

Quite a collection of plastic drinkware
You might be able to tell by the great lot of it I've accumulated above, that I quite like these insulated mugs and tumblers with the rattan (wicker?) under clear plastic.  I have 3 different sets plus one odd mug for sale in the booth now, along with the pair of cute aqua-handled cups on the right.

Small white hard-sided Samsonite suitcase.
The little suitcase is nice - the interior is in great shape and the keys are in their original little envelope inside.  So cute!  And seriously, how creepy is the little girl with the ravens, or whatever is going on in that picture?  She's looking down at the flowers, but sometimes it looks like she's just got blank eyeballs!

A small Treasure Craft planter, 6 Fire King peach lustre soup bowls,
a cool pink and gray Pro-Tex trivet and a golf-
themed valet tray - mid-century goodness, all!

Fun old Pringles duffel.
Wicker-woven frame purse - cute!

Lotsa hats, and a couple umbrellas!

More hats, purses, blouses, men's shirts, dresses, etc.

A new hat for the awesomest cardigan.

Cool graphic thermos.

One of the new dresses I added.  Snap-front
"Model Coat".  Love the appliqué!
Pretty pink doll trunk with gold starburst "wallpaper".

Tiny little blue enamel kettle-thing.
Nice little catchall, or pen-holder for your desk!

There's more, too.  Mugs and purses, dresses and an adorable child-sized pair of green-lensed cat-eye glasses... the booth is hoppin', I'm telling you!  Here are a few wider shots (I can't get the whole booth with my phone the way I usually do with my camera):

Some fun Spring thrifts

It was a long work week last week and with Easter this weekend, I didn't get to hit any estate sales, but I did manage one quick visit into a thrift store this last week, and that one 20-minute trip was well worth it!  I came away with a few choice items:

A cute little pair of ceramic owls on a log with a small pop of color from a pair of polka-dotted mushrooms.

Super sweet drip-glazed big-mouth frog complete with fly on his nose.

Dandelion design glasses - I got 3 of them.  Love!

I love dandelions.  I love that they are these bright, cheery, happy little flowers with a fierce etymology (dent-de-lion = lion's tooth).  I love that the fluffs look like delicate balls of lace and I love that as cute and delicate as they seem, they are strong and tenacious and no matter how hard people try to get rid of them, they just keep on coming back as cheery and cute as ever.  They don't care if you call them weeds, they know they are flowers and they will bring their simple beauty right back to you every time.  I think it's a beautiful metaphor.

Sorry for the digression; on with the thrifts!

Another piece of enameled cast-iron cookware!
The skillet says 26 France Nomar on it's base.  The company does not appear to be around anymore, although one reference I saw and then could not find again indicated that it was bought out/replaced by/renamed to become Staub.  The skillet is in good shape, but unfortunately the wooden handle is both split and blackened on the bottom.
Very cool patterened thermos.  It's missing it's inner cap, and it rattles, but the interior that you can see appears to be intact, so I'm not sure what the deal is with this one.  I wonder if it would look cute as a vase?
And best for last:
Awesome picnic set!
I love this.  The slide-top box you see looks like it would be good to hold sandwiches, and the thermos is in great shape - a little soup or coffee?  And the iconic Thermos Tartan plaid!  Originally the bigger, rattle-y thermos above was actually in this bag, and this smaller, matching thermos was found nearby, but as this one both matches and does not rattle, it was returned to its rightful place after purchase, and I will figure out what to do with the bigger one with the cool print but questionable noises later.  Now a nice picnic blanket is in order, and it's off to the park for a picnic among the dandelions!

Have you been finding any thrifty treasures lately?

Booth update 3/27/2012

For the first time this week I was a little disappointed when I went to the booth.  As far as I can tell, I only sold one item this past week - again, vintage menswear.  Who new?

Still, last week I sold so much I was doing the happy dance, so hopefully for the month it will average out to still be even better than February.  I had intended to try and work some of the increasingly large collection of crewelwork I have accrued in to the booth this week, but the cutely scalloped and totally free long skinny shelf I acquired the other day seemed to be so perfect size and style wise that I decided to go another route, at least for now.  I may even make myself a wicked-crewel (see what I did there?) collage on the wall at home for awhile - imagine, decorating my own walls!  So here are some shots of the various items I added to the booth this morning.  Some of these pieces were just procured this weekend, but only the disco ball was part of the Big Trash Day free haul.:

kitschy hummel-esque 70s candle.

Disco ball!

Tall aluminum thermos (red lid is mismatched).

Awesome  yellow retro phone!

I think it might be to keep valuables in for
boating?  It would float if it went overboard...

Singer button-hole kit in a cool space-shippy case.

Cheery yellow lemon jar-pitcher.

1964 toy xylophone w/original mallet and string.

Joan Bryant wood grain clown print.

Small green vinyl suitcase with red/yellow/green stripes.

Vintage child-size Taos beaded moccasins.

Pair of 12 oz Butterfly Gold Pyrex fridgies.

Pair of floral Easter bonnety hats.  Are there still Red Hat ladies?

I forgot to get a shot of the great sunny yellow old men's Arrow shirt you can see the shoulder of in the above picture.  So Springy!

And here's one final shot of the whole booth, newly arranged and added to:

Lots of new items - come and get 'em at Booth 78 at Kenrick Antique Mall, and I'll keep adding more!

I really didn't think I could fit much more in there, but I don't think it looks too cluttered, do you?  And I like Bambi's new perch on the shelf, too!  Here's a slightly closer look at the shelf:

What do you think?  I'm liking it, although I'm starting to wish I hadn't hung the two small suitcases cockeyed like that...
